Sunny afternoon

2nd April 2022

Today was a dry mainly clear day, the cloud this morning lifted to give a sunny afternoon. There was a covering of fresh snow in most locations. While this new snow is soft it is currently stable.   The soft new snow will be redistributed as the wind speeds pick up through the day tomorrow. This will form new unstable windslab accumulations which will become increasingly unstable as precipitation turns to rain at the end of the afternoon.

Looking across the crags in Coire an Lochain with Braeriach behind.

Looking across the plateau from Cairn Lochan to Ben Macdui. There is a covering of fresh soft sow which will be redistributed as the wind speeds increase tomorrow.

Taken from a similar location looking across the crags of Coire an t-Sneadchda towards Cairngorm. Less snow on the plateau looking this way.
