New snow inbound

4th March 2023

The Cairngorms were once again shrouded in cloud for the majority of the day. At times it looked like it might brighten, but the cloud quickly returned to obscure any hope of a view. There was a very light dusting of new snow. The snow surface was mostly firm, but in places there was a crust (supporting the weight of a skier), and also pockets of softer snow above 1000m.

Snow showers are forecast for tomorrow, from late morning onwards. A blanket of new snow is expected to fall to 700m on all aspects. Unstable wind slab will progressively develop on East to South aspects above 1000m.

It is forecast to get colder on Monday and there is further snow on the way.
