Destructive winds

27th December 2023

An extremely challenging day, even at low levels, with persistent heavy snow and destructive winds.  The Met Office recorded winds of 106 mph at 10am on Cairn Gorm summit before losing connection at noon, just as Storm Gerrit was gaining momentum.

The wind is going to switch from South-East to South-West overnight with more snow incoming.  A complicated picture in the Northern Cairngorm SAIS area so read the forecast for more detail.
