Mild, wet and windy

16th December 2023

A very mild day with spells of rain.  South-Westerly winds were gusting over 100 mph at plateau level.  Continuing mild during Sunday before cooler conditions arrive on Monday.

Heading in towards Coire an t- Sneachda.  Apart from the gusty wind, postholing was also a hazard on the remaining patches of snow.

Coire an t-Sneachda.

Retreating from Coire an t-Sneachda.  The high point was the corrie floor, it was too gusty to keep going.

4 legs is a great advantage in windy conditions.

The Cairngorms at 8.30 this morning.  The photo below was taken at the same time yesterday morning, note the snow loss.
