Firm snowpack

9th February 2025

A day of cold temperatures and the odd snow flurry.  Little change to the existing snowpack which remains very firm with serious run out potential on steep slopes.  Some isolated unstable windslab in steep lee areas, but this is mostly avoidable.  See avalanche report for more details.

The Fiacaill Coire an t- Sneachda ridge in the middle, Lochain to the right.

Isolated shallow windslab instabilities, this was on a N aspect at 1020 metres.

General views of the Cas area and beyond.

Once above 850m the snow was good for touring on the windy ridge path.
