Cold and sunny

7th February 2025

A blue sky day with sub zero temperatures and strong South-South-East winds making it feel quite chilly.  Some drifting snow at plateau levels. Windslab accumulations are mostly isolated and shallow, but worth avoiding on steep slopes due to lingering weaknesses. The old snow is very firm with serious run out potential on steep slopes.

Looking up the Fiacaill a Choire Chais ridge.

The Cas bowl.

Views across the plateau towards Coire an t-Sneachda.

Looking South across the plateau.

Views looking South with Loch Etchachan in the middle.  The distant cloud made its way over to Northern Cairngorms by mid afternoon.
