Snow remains firm

3rd March 2025

It’s been another bright and breezy day in the Cairngorms. Although the freezing level was around 1100 metres the snowpack remains firm with serious run out potential on steep slopes.  Todays journey was a circuit around Cairngorm to check out general snow cover.  See photo’s below.

Looking across to Beinn Mheadhoin from the South side of Cairngorm.

The South side of Cairngorm, although facing the sun slopes remain very firm.

Looking South towards Loch and Carn Etchachan.  The burn line leading out of the top of Coire Raibert bottom right.

Coire an t-Sneachda, behind are the Eastern slopes leading up to the summit of Lochain.

The top of the Cas Headwall, this faces North.

Looking down the West side of Cairngorm across the plateau, Ben Macdui is in the distance.
