Windy. Mild. Dry.

4th March 2025

The midday temperature was 3°C on Cairn Gorm summit.  The winds have been pretty steady 70 – 80 knots throughout, peaking around 101 knots.

The remaining snow is clinging on to the mountain, and will take another hit with the overnight rain (nothing compared to the amounts that our West coast friends will experience) before it turns dry tomorrow.  The snow will slowly soften but this will occur much slower at the highest of locations, especially on the Northerly aspects.   Photos showing general snow distribution.

    Hi,

Totally appreciate the reports and photos. Very useful. What isn’t is windspeed in knots. Never met anyone on the hill that talked about windspeed in knots. Knots are for ropes.
