A stormy day
12th April 2026
Another stormy day in the Cairngorms with winds increasing through the afternoon, gusting up to 85mph. Snowfall was heavy at times with deep drifts forming in lee areas. The freezing level steadily rose to 1000 metres by midday and snowpack stability improved at lower levels. Some brighter spells arrived during the afternoon, winds are expected to gradually ease over the next 24 hours.
