A very different landscape
26th March 2024
- Snow continued falling yesterday evening on some brisk winds, and continued to do so through the evening but on very light winds. This has resulted in a good covering of fresh, light and fluffy snow. It was very evident today that this was becoming effected by solar radiation and from late morning, numerous single point ‘sluffs’ were observed on West and North aspects above 950 metres. The winds are set to increase to gale force overnight which will redistribute the existing unconsolidated snow and the new fresh snow expected overnight.
Above: single point sluff observed out of Jacobs Ladder. Thanks to Mark Chadwick for the photo.
Above: pinwheels on steep West aspects indicating surface instabilities.
