Warm and Windy.

There has been a significant change in weather during last 36 hours or so. It has gone from well below freezing on the tops to well above. There has also been a fair bit of wind and rain thrown into the mix, it was gusting over 100 mph on the summit of Cairngorm this morning. A bit of avalanche activity noted on West to North aspects in Coire an t-Sneachda from yesterday evening or last night. Weather looks to be remaining unsettled the next few days.
The summit temperature on Cairngorm over the past 36 hours or so. It rose from about minus five during the early hours of Friday to plus five today. Interesting how the rapidly the temperature varied through the day yesterday.
The rainfall radar for 5.40am this morning. Although not as wet as in the West, there was some heavy rain here overnight.
Fresh erosion on the path. The combination of overnight rain and snow melt in the mild temperature meant there was a lot of surface water overnight.
In flat areas there were some significant pools of slush in both the streams and on the path. It was also very windy today evident from the angle the forecaster in the picture had to lean into the wind to maintain balance.
A wide angles view of Coire an t-Sneachda. Although the floor of the coire is generally quite bare, the steeper backwall and sides of the coire still hold a fair bit of snow.
There had been a significant avalanche yesterday evening/overnight to the left of the Mess of Pottage. Some significant cornices remain.
By tweaking the contrast in this image, debris from a number of smaller avalanches around and to the right of Mess of Pottage are evident.
