Storm Darragh approaches!

6th December 2024

Today a calm morning but increasingly windy as the day developed and Storm Darragh approached . A dramatic and complicated  forecast with significant snowfall and storm force winds. Winds backing from SE overnight through East then Northerly in the day. Windslab deposited on Northern aspects overnight will be scoured and redistributed to Southerly aspects in the day.  Amounts expected – potentially 20-40 cm!

Some shallow soft snow in wind sheltered places – here at around 1100m on E aspect

Firm snow areas in Coire an Lochain with a thin dusting.

Looking down the ski area to Loch Morlich and the Spey Valley from the Ptarmigan.
