Cooler by the afternoon
18th December 2024
Another day of strong to gale force winds. Heavy overnight rain subsided by the morning to leave a day of showers, which turned to snow at summit levels through the afternoon. The landscape is mostly clear of snow apart from patches around corrie back walls, crag aprons and coire rims. It is likely that some patches also remain on sections of the plateau and across on Southerly aspects. All change tomorrow with a much cooler airflow with snowfall. This isn’t expected to be heavy but it will feel more wintry than of late. Any remaining old snow patches will become firm and icy with serious run out potential on the more extended strips.
