Blizzard

22nd December 2024

A day of continuous snowfall with drifting and blizzard conditions above 800 metres.  Snow shoes or ski would have made underfoot travel easier, but although lee areas hold thigh deep snow, wind exposed areas have a superficial covering.  Gusts of up to 103 mph were recorded overnight, winds are expected to ease during Monday.

At 700m, looking down the ski area.

More views from just above 800m.

A mountaineering group at 900m.

Looking East from the mid station.

Today’s high point, the snow depth on this cross loaded terrain feature was up to a metre deep in places.
