Calm start to the day

12th January 2025

Initially conditions were cool with very light winds.  By midday South-South-Westely winds increased strong to gale force leading to drifting snow above 900 metres.  A deep cover of snow lies on most aspects.  This is soft in some areas, firm in others with a soft layer beneath making it hard going on foot, especially off the beaten track. Mild temperatures are due to arrive overnight.  Monday looks mild and windy with spells of light rain.

Winds picked up by early afternoon causing drifting at higher levels.
