Gales and snow continue

The South-Easterly airstream continues with gale force winds and snowfall above 600 metres. Poor visibility above 750 metres with significant drifting.  Wind speeds eased a little through the afternoon, but in general they were anything between 40 and 60mph.

Finding shelter below the Ciste.

 

Sunshine through the gloom, Meall a’ Bhuachaille.

 

On a North facing slope at 500m, evidence of recent snowpack instabilities, mostly likely during the last thaw.

 

Deteriorating conditions at 750 metres.

 

Cracking underfoot, an indicator of snowpack instabilities. This was on a NW aspect at 750 metres.
