Mild and damp

25th February 2026

A mild day with spells of rain and drizzle at all levels during the morning. Sizeable cornices remain over Northerly aspects.  Cornice collapse and wet snow avalanche activity was observed on very steep Northerly aspects. Large snowfields remain above 800 metres.  The snow is soft and thawing at all levels, at corrie floor levels, some of the ground is clear of snow; however boulder fields are tricky to cross, due to areas of soft snow between boulders which at times collapse.
