A blanket of soft snow
6th March 2026
After a night of snowfall on Northerly winds it cleared into a stunning day. Once again the old snowpack refroze and is now very firm and today’s cold temperatures have left new snow soft and unconsolidated. Gale force Southerly winds are expected over the next 24 hours. This will lead to heavy drifting from the plateau with unstable windslab developing on Northerly aspects.

Views from Cairngorm looking West across the plateau, note the fresh ski tracks on the South side of Sneachda.
