A biting wind with snowfall
4th January 2022
A covering of new snow at all levels. Â Summit winds were strong North-Westerly, minus 8C on the tops leading to a high wind chill. Â Poor visibility above 900 metres. Â Boulder fields present tricky crossing as they begin to fill with soft unconsolidated snow. Â Exposed old snow patches are hard and icy. Â There’s a widespread cover of new snow on most aspects apart from those exposed to the strong winds. Â Unstable accumulations of windslab continue to develop.
