Cold, Clear and Sunny

19th March 2018

Very good snow cover but boiler plate hard and ice glazed on east facing and any areas touched by the recent winds.

Good soft snow accumulations on westerly to northerly aspects. Weaknesses persist at depth but are well bridged by very hard snow layers above – (gen steep W-N aspects above 1000m).

Ski tourers heading west on the firm snow slopes. Note the whiter patches of fresh windblown snow.

The cliffs of Coire an t Sneachda with an old avalanche crown wall still visible and the old avalanche debris in the coire floor.
