Icy and firm snow cover

13th December 2021

A clear day but with a very strong SW wind, especially on the tops. The wet snowpack from overnight rain turned more and more icy during the day, pretty firm at higher levels, which required us to wear crampons and use ice axes for safe progress, but breakable crust at times below 800m.
