Increasing South-Easterlies

7th December 2021

Moderate winds quickly increased to storm force South-Easterlies by late morning, which created heavy drifting above 500 metres.  This was accompanied by heavy snowfall from mid afternoon which dramatically reduced visibility above 500 metres.  Significant accumulations of snowfall are predicted for the next 24 hours.

By the early afternoon the Cairngorm’s vanish beneath a plume of cloud and spindrift.

In the meantime the Avalanche Information Service engage with some pre season training.
