Very mild with Gale force winds.
7th March 2015
Plus 4 on the summit of Cairngorm with gusts of over 120mph. A thawing snowpack; however large snowfields and main gully lines remain intact.
A rapid thaw leaving undergrowth saturated.
Very hard work walking against gale force SW winds, often being blown backwards or over!
Views of Aladdin’s Buttress and the Trident gullies. Winds unpredictable and gusty as we entered the corrie, so we left teetering through boulder fields for another day
Clearer spells away from the crags with rainbows over Glenmore
