Cold and Wintry

13th April 2015

The Cairngorm plateau from Cairngorm summit

A cold and wintry scene at the start of the day but as the freezing level rose to summit levels around midday so the wind increased in strength. Its still very good snow cover on the plateau and wintry looking corries. Warm windy and wet though for the next days or so.

Strengthening Southerly winds loading the Northern Corries with windslab, illustrated here just beyond Fiachaill of Coire an t Sneachda. Note also large cornices on East aspect Sron na Lairig
