Warm and windy
18th April 2019
A warm day with hazy sunshine. Â Summit temperatures rose to plus 7 degrees Celsius by the afternoon. Â South-Easterly winds were strong with some quite severe gusts at times. Â The snowpack is generally thawing and spring like in most locations. Â Northerly facing and shady slopes are firmer. Â Large snowfields remain on the plateau. Â Corrie back walls and major gullies still hold plenty of snow. Â Cornice remnants overhang some steep slopes.
