A thawing snowpack

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service would recommend that those wishing to enjoy the winter mountains refer to Mountaineering Scotland and Scottish Government advice regarding Covid-19 and outdoor activities.

Zero degrees at summit levels by midday.  The snowpack is beginning to diminish below 700 metres.  Deep accumulations of soft thawing snow remain above this level.  Firmer conditions above 1000 metres, although its punchy and deep for those on foot.
