Bands of cloud

7th December 2020

Covid-19

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service would recommend that those wishing to enjoy the winter mountains refer to Mountaineering Scotland and Scottish Government advice regarding Covid-19 and outdoor activities.

Complete snow cover in the Cairngorms with varying depths and consistency.  Cruddy conditions at lower levels but once above 1000 metres where it’s cooler the snowpack is much drier and less heavy going.  A bright start to the day with sunny spells above the bands of cloud which obscured the hillside below.  By early afternoon visibility became quite poor as more cloud develop followed by the arrival of snow.
