Breakable Crust

10th December 2020

Covid-19

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service would recommend that those wishing to enjoy the winter mountains refer to Mountaineering Scotland and Scottish Government advice regarding Covid-19 and outdoor activities.

Good snow cover in the Cairngorms.  A widespread breakable crust overlies the snowpack below 1000 metres, softer snow above.  South-South-Easterly winds were strong to gale force, drifting snow at higher levels.

Skinning up the ski area.

Heading into the gloom at 900 metres.
