Another stunning day

18th December 2021

High pressure continues to dominate, with dry sunny conditions and light winds.  Summit temperatures were around plus 10 degrees C at midday.  Freezing temperatures at lower altitudes and glen levels.   The old snowpack remains very firm and icy.   Some softening of the snow surface on slopes exposed to direct sunlight.

Inversion cloud hangs over Aviemore.

Views from a warm and sunny Bynack Mor today, looking across towards the summit of Cairngorm.
