Storm Malik

29th January 2022

Today was indeed a stormy day…The  strongest winds were at dawn with a top windspeed of 147 mph on the summit of Cairngorm; average speeds of around 100mph.

By midday rain turned to snow showers, which has left a dusting of snow over the tops.

Parked at 600 metres this unfortunate pickup had all of it’s side windows smashed and blown out. This can happen by the sheer force of the wind or sometimes windows can be smashed by small pebbles being picked up and thrown by the wind.

Slightly less windy at 500 metres. Looking up towards the Ciste gully

Snow showers make their way over from the West.
