Briefly Mild Interlude

7th February 2022

It was a milder than of late today with the freezing level risen above the summits. However, it stayed dry so far and there was even some pleasant spells of sunshine at lower levels. The warmer conditions have superficially made a difference, the hill does look a lot blacker at lower levels. However, it has not really made a signifiant difference to the deeper accumulations at higher levels. Turning colder over the next few days.

There was an ominous sky during the morning. However, to my surprise the weather got better during the day (at least at lower levels) with some pleasant spells of sunshine during the afternoon.

The path into Coire an Lochan. Most of the snow at the level that this photo was taken at had gone by the afternoon.

Heading into Coire an Lochan.

Looking up at the crags. The weather didn’t seem to know whether it should cloud over (low cloud coming in from the right) or clear up (patches of blue sky can just be seen top left).
