Wind and rain

29th January 2023

All change today, rain at all levels, very mild and extremely windy.  Storm force Westerly winds, a steady 70 to 80 mph with the odd gust of over 100 mph, (Summit gust of 106 mph recorded at 9am this morning).  Winds eased through the afternoon and rain turned to sleety snow at the highest levels.  A few folk were wandering in and out of the corries; A good day to blow the cobwebs away!

Stormy conditions in the Cairngorms

The Fiachaill of Sneachda ridge and Coire and Lochain.

Walking into Coire an t- Sneachda.

A gusty walk towards Coire an t- Sneachda.

Views of Aladdin’s buttress and and the trident gullies-note the remaining cornices above.
