Whiteout conditions and mild temperatures.

8th December 2023

Following yesterday’s storm, debris from a very large natural avalanche was observed on a North West aspects at 1100m. A windslab avalanche that had run on the unconsolidated base layer that had been created in the cold  spell. Now mild conditions have taken hold and are gradually improving snowpack stability. A day of very poor visibility today with whiteout conditions above 1000m.

Looking toward the lower slopes of Coire an Lochain and Lurchers gully.
